After high school, she earned her Bachelor's in Liberal Arts, with an emphasis in Philosophy and Art, from the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) in Juneau, which was also where she met her husband Kyle. They then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where Ms. Meyn earned her Master's in Liberal Arts, Western Classics from St. John's College (while her husband earned his Master's in Liberal Arts, Eastern Classics). After that, they moved back to Anchorage where Ms. Meyn earned her Master's of Arts in Teaching from UAA.
Ms. Meyn has many hobbies, including fiber arts (dying, spinning yarn, felting, and knitting), pottery, glass fusing, painting, drawing, gardening, walking and hiking. She loves to think about, read about, and discuss philosophy, psychology, and linguistics, among many other topics. Her brilliant daughter Naomi is the center of her life these days. She also has a grumpy fat cat named Nietzsche, whom Naomi adores and who is terrified of Naomi. Ms. Meyn knows and is continually learning English, Tlingit, German, Classical Latin, and American Sign Language (ASL), and she and her husband are attempting to raise Naomi quadrilingually with English, Tlingit, ASL, and German.
